After about the 5th grade, I could not sit next to any boy anymore without them squirming and making noise. I told her I really didn't know but she wasn't asking because she actually wanted to be a girl.It wasn't until college that I realized how much my daughter loved all the attention we received as a family. We had a very simple house and the neighbors would look on us in envy, as they were so lucky to have two loving families in their midst.Years later, I watched as my daughter's friends read a short story that touched on similar themes to her story. As a writer, I am well aware of my limitations as a writer. I am just starting to notice a small difference between my writing and others.When writing essay topics for gender issues, I thought to myself, 'How hard can it be?' My daughter is a girl, right?
